As a preferred Bank for the Small & Medium Enterprise and Retail sectors Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) continues to develop and innovate its comprehensive product portfolio and services to the SME and retail customer segments. With the objective of adding value to the services offered to the SME sector the Bank launched Free Advisory Services for entrepreneur development. The first programme was held in Kurunegala with the participation of existing and potential SME customers from the area.

Coordinated by the Kurunegala branch of UBC the programme themed " "Entrepreneurship Development" consisted training schedule on enhancing knowledge and skill level of the participants on business conduct, handling challenges in a competitive environment and change management. The event took place on 27th August 2011. Mr Geeth Rajapaksha, National Trainer and District Coordinator of National Productivity Secretariat facilitated the programme under the area "Personal Productivity for Entrepreneurs" whilst Mr. Nissanka Rajapakse, Senior Manager, Audit of Union Bank, conducted a session on Internal Controls.
